Memories of Home

While MemRemix soundscapes are a great way to capture the memories of important life events, they are also a great way to capture the memories of a place, and one of the most important places for many people is the place we call home.

For Christmas this year I field-sampled the big chimes outside my door, next to the pool and turned them into a short soundscape, or soundscape “sketch”, that tries to capture the emotional and physical journey those chimes have made these past five years.

I got out of my EDM head and went for a more traditional melody and chord arrangement. The chimes were tuned to a A Major so I went with that key along with the relative F# minor.
